At one point in the trip we were something like 19 hours ahead of Los Angeles. Tonight we make the time change that brings us to one hour behind Los Angeles and a day or so later we’ll make the final change to bring us in sync. I loved it when we were moving ahead as we got extra sleep. Coming back across the Pacific we’ve experienced many 23 hour days as we catch up and head toward sync.[Read more…] about One Hour To Go
A quick 96 mile overnight sail took us from Oahu to Kauai and Nawiliwili Harbor. It was interesting to see the ship get into the harbor (and, later out) using the thrusters. Weather was in the 80s with, of course, high humidity; I had to watch the camera lens each time I went outside as if the camera got too cold in the air conditioning the lens would fog up. Keeping the lens cap on until the camera warmed a bit was helpful.[Read more…] about Guam
We won the race with the typhoon to Manila by letting it win. It moved more northwest and sped up so it only brushed Manila while we slowed down and stayed south until the last minute when we pushed pedal to the metal and headed straight north into Manila and made it on time today at 7am.[Read more…] about Manila
