It’s now Friday before the Monday of departure. I think I used the car for the last time today so tomorrow I’ll be setting things up in the garage. Curved supports go under the wheels to keep them from developing a flat spot and a battery minder will keep the small battery in the Prius in good condition. The traction battery should be OK but I may have to plan a semi-long drive when I get back to exercise it.
Today was basically last minute bank stuff. Yesterday I had someone attempt to break into my main bank account through use of a compromised credit card. Fortunately the bank detected the problem and stopped the action but that required me to change a bunch of log-in information, establish credit alerts, report credit card fraud, etc., etc. And, today was the last of the protections. (It was amazing how much information “they” had put together.) Also learned how hard it is to put a travel alert on some cards. The systems are set up for a few days of travel to a couple of locations, not a round-the-world trip. The best card allowed me to enter three groups of five countries which took me about half way through the trip. After much phone back and forth, the debit card basically required me to provide the trip itinerary/map to the bank manager so they could figure out transactions from countries by date range.
The packing is pretty much done (last minute items are sitting on the couch waiting to be stuffed into the suitcase at the last minute), excursions are arranged, transport to the ship confirmed, people notified, plant watering and mail pickup arranged, taxes taken care of, and door decorations indicating I’m gone ready to be put up Monday morning. Do the car tomorrow and then just sit back and relax and wait. (Those who know me know that’s not going to happen. 🙂 )
