Just before leaving Positano the Captain notified us that the weather along the coast near Portofino is deteriorating and that it would be unsafe for tender operations at that port. To that end, on the 10th our stop in Portofino has been canceled. Instead, on the same day, we will be stopping in Genoa as weather won’t matter as much there as Genoa has a port where we can tie up to a dock.
So, those following along please change your maps to mark Genoa instead of Portofino. They are quite close together and, in fact, many of the Portofino excursions went to Genoa.
The day today (8th in Positano with an excursion to Pompeii) was beautiful and Vesuvius did not erupt while we were there (it’s still an active volcano). The weather tomorrow however, will likely be cool and windy with the possibility for rain. That will make Rome something of a problem, particularly if we do have rain.
Part of the travel experience.
More after tomorrow.
