It’s October 9th today and we are at the dock on Yokohama awaiting our departure for Hiroshima about 7pm tonight. Today the bugs struck.
Since Kodiak I’ve been fighting a low level cold. No fever or anything bad; just the sniffles…until today at least. When I woke this morning I felt fine until I tried to speak. Yesterday I was a little hoarse; today I could only whisper. So, despite feeling generally OK I took a trip down to deck four and saw the ship’s doctor. She found nothing major and due to redness in the throat suggested a course of antibiotics and a short course of a light steroid to calm things down. Started that with breakfast.
I’ll have to see how this affects excursions. I suspect I’ll not go on the Hiroshima excursion and I have a couple of days before having to decide about Beijing. The main problem with those two are that there is considerable walking involved and my oxygen level was down some this morning. Also, for Beijing there is a three hour bus ride to get there and get back. While not stressful in itself six hours on a bus is also not to my liking. I’ll certainly take the excursion should I feel up to it so I’m holding it open for now.
At least I’m not restricted to the cabin for this.
We finally left Yokohama at 7pm tonight and are now at sea.
