By the magic twist of a dial when we went to bed last night we were 19 hours ahead of Los Angeles time and when we got up this morning we were five hours behind; the twist being the stem on my watch. We crossed the International Date Line in an eastbound direction and picked up the day we lost crossing between Alaska and Japan earlier in the trip.
We’re about half way between Guam and Hawaii now. The weather has been good with some rain last night but no storms to rile the ocean more than the usual gently rocking swell. Temperatures are fairly constant in the low 80s and we’ve been sailing over water with a depth of around 5,000 meters several days now after we passed the really deep water just east of Guam. Yesterday, when I was out on the balcony I did see two birds pacing the ship. No idea why two sea birds would be flying out here in the middle of nowhere but there they were.
When I predicted extra vitamin D due to relaxing in the sun the other day I was wrong. As it turns out the sun is almost directly overhead and deck 14 extends out from the ship and shades the decks below from the sun when it is directly overhead. So, the balcony has been in the shade most of the time. But, it’s still nice out there and I go out sometimes and just watch the ocean wondering how anyone could possibly have thought to get into a tiny ship and sail out into it with no idea what was ahead of them or how far anything was. It’s a BIG ocean!
Don’t know when this will be posted as right now as I draft this the ship’s Internet connection is down but know that it’s being written just before noon on Wednesday, November 7th; what most of us are calling Groundhog Day after the movie where days repeated over and over again.

We’ve been going in and out of rain of late and the ocean is now higher than it was between Alaska and Japan. I did not see it but was told we hit one swell just right and spray came up over the Horizon Court buffet which is on deck 14! Two more sea days until Hawaii.
